Join us in a demonstration of diversity and love
Melbourne, – The LGBTI Latinx and Hispanics in Australia, as a multicultural group, fully support marriage equality. Based on similar laws applied in some Latin American countries, we as a community, are concerned about the negative impact a plebiscite or/a postal vote will have on the LGBTI+ community here in Australia.
Countries such as, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, Mexico, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Colombia have all passed laws supporting marriage equality and same sex adoption. As a community, we need to ensure Multicultural and/or Multi – faith groups are not media driven to subjects their communities to fear towards homophobia and/or transphobia.
If the postal vote is goes ahead, the multicultural LGBTI group urges the Latin and Hispanic community in Australia to vote yes.
Members of the LGBTI Latinx and Hispanic community in Victoria will be on the marriage equality rally on August 26, 2017 at the State Library of Victoria. Allies and members of the community are welcome to join us.
